In June, DDP’s founder, Zaki Ameer joined CEOs from around Sydney to help raise $7.3 million as a part of Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness, but it doesn’t have to be this way.
When Zaki first moved to Australia alone 20 years ago, he experienced some major life setbacks. He had to move to 12 homes in a very short amount of time. However, he never had to sleep on the streets. Which is why he felt it was important to be apart of the sleepout. He wanted to experience what it felt like to sleep in cold temperatures unprotected by the comforts of home.
Homelessness is a devastating and complex problem in our community, which is why we must take a step back and try to understand the harsh realities that many face. It’s important for those of us who are more fortunate to take part in giving back.
